Histology Slide Preparation Service Turnaround Times

• 2 weeks for routine slide preparation, 4–5 weeks for large studies or specialized embedding or sectioning requests. Call for more specific information.
• 3–day advance notice is recommended in order to guarantee your turnaround times.
• A STAT fee will be applied if overtime or additional staffing is needed.

Additional Guidelines

• Label histology cassettes with #2 pencil or a mechanical pencil with 0.5-mm lead (pen and marker will wash off during processing, including those products indicated as “permanent”).
• Provide any special post-fixation procedure instructions required when submitting samples.

Diagnostic Pathology Services

Diagnostic pathology services are used to investigate unexpected sickness or mortality in colonies or in study animals.

Includes trimming and embedding of tissues, H&E slide preparation, special slide stain preparation as needed, pathologist evaluation and interpretation on a final report.

Dissection of tissues from fixed or fresh carcass (mouse, rat, guinea pig, rabbit, other species)

Turnaround Times
A diagnostic pathology report will be available within 10 business days from receipt of specimen. Turnaround times may be delayed if complete history and signalment are not provided upon submission.

Research & Toxicologic Pathology Services

Tissue evaluation customized to your evaluation criteria and study needs. Special stains, morphometric analyses, and other special services are available to support evaluation.

Turnaround times for routine studies is 4-6 weeks but may vary based on type of evaluations performed and study requirements.
