Quality results start with quality samples

When designing an experiment that requires blood collection from lab research animals, dilution considerations are critical to quality results such as these key considerations below:

Dilution Considerations

Our standard dilutions are 3X. However, higher dilutions may be available for chemistry samples of insufficient volume, please check with the lab prior to submission. Na, Cl, and K are not reported on diluted samples. Samples of insufficient volume may also be run neat by listing test priorities on the submission form.
When selecting Yes or No for dilutions, things to consider:

  • Always indicate a priority list for short samples
  • Na, K, and Cl will not be reported on diluted samples.
  • For CREA, GGT or TP - Neat samples are recommended for lab research animals. Values for these analytes can fall below analyzer limits of detection when diluted.
  • If requesting LDL or HDL for lab research animals, if using a lab research animal model with expected high lipid values, a consult with our clinical pathologist is available and dilution may be recommended.
