About Dr. Ana Cristina Borges

Dr. Borges is a prominent figure in zebrafish husbandry and currently serves on the Executive Board of the Zebrafish Husbandry Association (ZHA). She holds a Bachelor's degree in Biology and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, transitioning from a developmental biologist to the Aquatic Facility Manager at the Gulbenkian Science Institute in Portugal.

In her role with the ZHA, Dr. Borges focuses on enhancing zebrafish research through innovative husbandry techniques and facility management. She is dedicated to developing educational resources, standardizing training programs across institutions, and expanding the ZHA's presence in Europe. Additionally, she actively participates in community outreach initiatives to raise public awareness about animal-based research.
